One of the oldest cities in India, Varanasi is famous for many things. One of the most famous things are the Saints of Varanasi. Some of the Saints have got a huge fame in the whole world & love and respect from people.
The great Saint Tulsidas has a close connection with Varanasi. It was in this holy city that he was blessed by Hanuman and by his grace had darshan of his chosen deity, Sri Ram. This place is now revered as the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir. This temple is situated near the Benares Hindu University, and is a much frequented place of worship.
The Tulsi Manas Mandir is a comparatively recent temple which has the entire Ram Charit Manas written by Tulsidas inscribed on its walls.
Sant Tulsidas left his mortal coil to merge with his beloved Ram on the banks of the Ganga near Asi Ghat. A new Ghat, named after him as Tulsi Ghat has been built there.

The story goes that he was actually the son of a Brahmin widow who abandoned him and that he was found by a Muslim weaver named Niru and his wife Neema floating on a Lotus leaf in a lake known as LaherTalav. They gave him the name Kabir. Kabir literally means “the great one” and Das means “servant”. As he was found here, this place came to be known as Kabir Janmasthali (Kabir Prackatya Sthal) or the birthplace of Kabir. Situated in the heart of Varanasi, when I visited the place the temple was under construction and the lake was devoid of any water. Now, a large hall has been built by his followers, and the place is being used for various religious discourses. They are planning to build a big temple cum ashram honoring Him.

Madan Mohan Malaviya was a Hindu Brahmin from Uttar Pradesh. He was an active leader for the cause of freedom of India. He was an eminent Congress leader. He joined Hindu Mahasabha and was a little inclined to moderate communalism after 1922. He worked for agrarian reforms and fought for the cause of suppressed Indian farmers. He coordinated with Mahatma Gandhi for upliftment of untouchables. He is often blamed for Hinduist Ideology but he retired from active politics in 1937 on the ground of health. It is V.D. Savarkar and M.S. Golwalkar who propagated extreme Hindu ideology and founded RSS.
